Ministry Announces the Arrival of Autumn

PHNOM PENH: With monsoon season finally winding down, a breeze has brought cooler weather to the Kingdom this week. The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology says that the northeastern border and the Dangrek Mountains can expect foggy and relatively cold conditions over the next few days.

According to the Ministry, a high pressure system from China will cover Cambodia from November 21-23, while northeast monsoon winds will be moderate. While the lowlands can expect temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celcius, the highlands and are expected to get down to 19 degrees (about 66 Fahrenheit).

Coastal areas can expect temperatures of around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, while strong winds at sea could cause waves from .5 to 1 meter high.

The Ministry says that autumn has arrived as the northeast monsoon brings cold and dry weather to Cambodia, which will last until rainy season returns sometime next spring.

The Ministry urges the public, especially young children and those stationed in the highlands to pay attention to the cold weather and to wear warm clothing and masks regularly to protect from cold weather diseases.
